There are several different configurations of LCD Wall Bracket. The simplest are direct mount brackets that perform the same function of a picture hanger. They are attached to the wall and the TV. Nothing fancy.

There are a large number of newer LCD TVs and monitors now that are able to attached to the wall or ceiling. There are many reasons for this. Space savings are a major factor. It takes a lot of shelf space to accommodate some of the larger TVs being sold now. Some have a screen as large as 72 inches. Mounting these with a wall bracket frees up more shelf area for the other assorted electronics such as DVD player, cable boxes, and video game consoles that are typically hooked up the the TV.

Choosing the right LCD Wall Bracket is very crucial if you intend to hang a piece of equipment that costs a lot of money on the wall. Some larger TVs can become very heavy. If your bracket is not able to handle the weight it can either bend or in some cases completely fall off the wall damaging the television. Brackets are often sold by weight range. The box it comes in will have the range in number of pounds that it will support. Be sure to weigh your tv or monitor and purchase a bracket that will handle the weight. If your tv or monitor is at the very upper weight range of the bracket be safe and purchase the next higher weighted bracket. You don’t want to take a chance or damaging expensive equipment.

There are several different configurations of LCD Wall Bracket. The simplest are direct mount brackets that perform the same function of a picture hanger. They are attached to the wall and the TV. Nothing fancy. Beyond that, there are brackets that allow you tilt or swivel the TV for a better viewing angle if you so desire. The most elaborate brackets also add an articulating arm so the TV or monitor can be swung away from the wall and provide even greater flexibility for viewing angles.

Regardless of the type of LCD Wall Bracket you choose, be sure before putting it together that it will attach to the back of your television or monitor. Most brackets either have several mounting holes or adjustable mounts to fit a wide variety of TVs. Once you have verified that your TV or monitor is a match for your bracket you are ready to put it together. A critical step in this process is finding a solid surface to mount the bracket to. It does little good to have a large heavy bracket that is a match for your TV you simply try to screw it into sheet rock. It will simply pull the attachment points out and fall. Be sure to always mount to studs in the wall or into concrete if located in the basement.

Always be sure to follow instructions closely so when your television is mounted it is secure and level and the bracket can perform as it was intended to.

If care is taken to choose the right type of bracket and it is mounted properly it will give many years of viewing pleasure and can be a great addition to your home enertainment center.

Prices on LCD televisions are coming down again. I got my Samsung 40″ LCD a year ago and now a friend of mine got a 46″ Samsung with a faster refresh rate for the same price. That’s a lot more screen for the same amount of money – nice. There are a lot of different brands out there and I favor Samsung because of the picture, which is hands down the best looking out there but you’ll want to do your homework to find out which LCD TV works best for you in your price range. Remember that the quality of the picture is in the contrast ratio – the higher, the better. The Samsung LN52B750 52-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV looks like an amazing TV.

Once you’ve picked out your new, LCD TV it’s time to wall mount it. Wall mounting provides you with the best viewing angle. Another advantage is that it frees up floor space while keeping that expensive TV out of reach of children and pets. The last thing you want to see is that fragile TV laying on the floor in pieces. And using a wall mount just makes your living room, den or family room look nicer. You’ll enjoy having friends over to watch a movie or the big game.

So What Should You Look for in a Wall Mount?

First, you’ll want to decide if you want one that’s in a fixed postiion, one that tilts, on that swivels or one that does all of those things. Look at the room where the TV will be mounted. What is the viewing angle like? Where is the couch, recliner or where are other seats? Are they spread apart or fairly close together? In most cases, a fixed position TV wall mount will do just fine because the viewing angle in most TVs made now are greater than 170 degrees, which is great.

Sometimes, in a bedroom or den, you may want the TV to move a little since there are multiple places in the room where the TV can be viewed from. If that’s the case, then you may want an arm TV wall mount which lets you pull the TV out from the wall and position it where you like. For obvious reasons, you can’t do this with very large LCD TVs, but you can with the smaller ones and having the swivel arm really makes a huge difference – you won’t believe it.

Are They One Size Fits All?

For the most part, yes – in terms of where the mounting holes are positioned. Pretty much every TV wall mount made now is VESA compatible, which just means the holes are positioned according to a standard – versus everyone manufacturer coming up with their own hole placement. You’ll just need to match up the VESA FPMPMI numbers on your TV specifications to the wall mount specifications. There will be a number like “100×100″ or “75×75″ or the like. Do that and then make sure it can handle the weight of the TV and mount along with the size of the TV and then you’re set to get to work installing it!

If you’re looking for the truly easy way to install an LCD TV on the wall, then we think you should seriously consider the Retraact-It 9700 EZTV Universal LCD TV Tiltable Wall Mount. It’s so easy to install that you’ll be watching your favorite TV shows, movies and games in no time.

Yes, it provides 10 degree tilting for your wall mounted TV and not swivel but you get the option of a fixed or tilted TV position. This wall mount is for most LCD TVs from 32″ to 61″ wide, which is a good range and will work for most LCD TVs. It comes with a top leveling system that allows you to make adjustments and a bottom locking system for added security. Your LCD TV will almost literally float just 1-3/4 ” from the wall, so it’s very low profile – looking just great in your room.

You’ll enjoy watching your LCD TV at a great viewing angle and you’ll also gain some valuable floor space by mounting your TV on the wall. Another advantage is that you can also keep your expensive TV out of reach of little ones and pets.

The Retraact-It 9700 is constructed of heavy duty steel with a durable powder coat finish available in silver. It’s so strong that it can hold a maximum of 200 pounds of TV. The question isn’t if the mount will hold that much but will your wall! Don’t worry, most LCD TVs are not nearly that heavy.

The design is simple, which makes it a breeze to install. There are just 6 easy steps! You’ll be able to brag that you installed it yourself because leveling screws allow final adjustments after the installation is complete and safety bolts attach to the bottom monitor brackets for security. If you’re worried about if it will work with your plasma or LCD TV, the included hardware kit comes with more than you will need to complete the installation. The reason is that ReTraact-It includes parts to fit most makes and models. See? Easy!

Fits most LCD/plasma TV brands

Fixed or 10 degree tilt positioning

200-pound capacity

Heavy duty steel construction

Durable powder coated silver finish

Package Width: 10.5 inches
Package Height: 2.3 inches

So take the worry and hassle out of trying to figure out which TV wall mount you need, how many tools you’ll need (or will have to buy), how much of your day it’ll take to install and make the right choice with the Retraact-It 9700 EZTV Universal LCD/Plasma Tiltable Wall Mount.

I noticed that a popular item in our LCD TV Wall Mounts Store is the Retraact-It 9800 Universal 3-In-1 LCD TV Mount, so I thought I’d write a little about this fine TV mount.

This LCD TV wall mount is for units with screens from 12″-31″ wide, so it’s perfect for the TV in the kitchen, den or bedroom – we prefer the den. You can mount it to the wall and get it out of the way while getting a better viewing angle. The Retraact-It TV bracket features multiple articulating positions from fixed, 5 or 10 degree tilt positions as well as 150-degree swivel and tilt. Wow. So you can easily put it in a variety of positions, making this a very versatile TV wall mount.

It’s Vesa compliant 50mm, 75mm and 100mm which is just tech speak for it’ll fit virtually any LCD TV made in the last few years since nearly every LCD TV manufacturer sets their mount points to the Vesa standard. You’ll want to check this for sure when purchasing your TV and / or wall mount because it’s important to know which wall mounts are compatible.

Also keep in mind that the maximum weight these Retraact-It 9800 Universal 3-In-1 LCD Television Mounts can hold is 70 pounds. Your 12 to 31 inch LCD TV will most likely not exceed this weight limit. This is just a friendly reminder for you to double check that so that your fragile, LCD screen doesn’t end up on the floor in the middle of the night scaring the dog, making your children cry and causing you to run into the den with a flashlight and your 45. It’s always best to just avoid that situation altogether – trust us, we know what we’re talking about and so do our wives.

When doing this kind of project, it’s good to know how to hide power cords when using a TV wall mount. It’s really best to not run power cords through the wall as you may be tempted to do. Don’t give in to that temptation. That kind of cord is not meant for the inside of your wall and is not rated for safe in-wall use nor is it compliant with local electrical codes, Sparky. Your best bet with power cords is to have an electrician run a separate electrical outlet up near where the TV is mounted. It’s actually not a difficult job for them if there’s another outlet near by. Remember that if you’re planning on mounting the TV on an exterior wall of your house, this project may become more difficult and require more beer drinking. Interior walls are easier.

If you’d rather run your wires on the outside of your wall but still have it look nice and neat, you’re in luck, Chuck! You’ll want to get some cable management raceways / conduits. They’re paintable and they hide your TV’s audio, video and power cables neatly between your set and an A/V cabinet.

So you’ve got your LCD TV, wall mounts, conduit and beer for the electrician. Don’t forget to make sure you’ve got enough A/V wires to reach everywhere and also plan out where you’ll be sitting when you’re watching the game in your den. Cheers!

Don’t forget to order that Retraact-It 9800 Universal 3-In-1 LCD Television Mount!

You should make sure that your LCD TV is capable of being wall-mounted. There are some early models that were designed to just sit on a table. Most are VESA compatible so that you can use a variety of mounts.

When you buy an LCD TV wall mount to mount your flat screen TV on the wall or ceiling, you’ll find that most are VESA compatible so that you can use a variety of mounts by manufacturers such as OmniMount, Sanus, VideoSecu, Peerless, Atlona, Vantage Point and by TV manufacturers like Samsung and Panasonic.

The VESA compatibility means that the TV manufacturer made their TV so that a variety of wall mounts can be used instead of a proprietary type of mounting system. Most flat screen TVs adhere to this standard but you will want to check this out when purchasing a new TV.

The Flat Display Mounting Interface (FDMI), also known as VESA Mounting Interface Standard (MIS) or better known as “VESA mount”, is a set of standards defined by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) for mounting flat panel monitors, LCD TVs, and other displays to stands or wall mounts. The standard is implemented on most modern flat-panel TVs. Check for the VESA mounting specification on your flat panel TV.

Flat Display Mounting Interface Standard (FDMI)

FDMI is intended to provide industry standard mounting interfaces for Flat Displays (FDs) such as flat panel monitors, flat displays and TVs. This standard defines mounting interfaces for Flat Displays, corresponding standards for mounting device manufacturers and cable and cable connector location guidelines.

The FDMI was extended in 2006 with a collection of additional screw patterns that are more appropriate for larger TV screens.

The VESA/FDMI standard makes it possible to easily find a suitable stand or bracket for your LCD TV by knowing the screen dimension.

Virtually every LCD flat screen TV has the ability to be mounted on to a wall or a ceiling. Look for 4 screw holes on the rear of most screens. which are usually located near the middle of the screen (on smaller screens) and further apart on larger screens.

The most common VESA MIS spacings are:

MIS-D Mounting hole patterns in either of these patterns: 100 mm x 100 mm or 75 mm x 75 mm

MIS-E Mounting hole pattern of 200 mm x 100 mm

MIS-F Mounting hols spaced in 200 mm increments

Like we mentioned above, you should make sure that your LCD TV is capable of being wall-mounted. There are some early models that were designed to just sit on a table. Even if you don’t plan on wall mounting your LCD or plasma TV, you should still check that it’s VESA compatible in case you want to do that later or if you would someday sell your TV.
