As LCD televisions continue to get slimmer and slimmer, the ease of hanging your own LCD wall mount becomes easier. If you are wondering what you need to know about LCD wall mounts, then this article will give you a good idea of what you should look for and consider when purchasing a wall mount for your LCD TV.

What You Need to Know to Buy an LCD TV Wall Mount

If you are considering buying an LCD wall mount that comes from the TV’s manufacturer, you will need to know the model and brand of your television. While not all LCD manufacturer made LCD wall mounts are made equally, you may consider buying a generic LCD wall mount. For a generic LCD wall mount you will need to know the brand, model, size, and weight of your television. It is very important that you take the weight of your LCD television into consideration when purchasing a wall mount. Some mounts are made to hold very lightweight televisions while others will be too cumbersome for smaller televisions.

Most manufacturers will state on the back of the LCD wall mount package which brand, model, and size of television they will hold. While the installation instructions with these mounts tend to be brief, you can still gather a good idea of how the mechanism will work. Some people will compare hanging a LCD wall mount to hanging a picture. I disagree with this statement. It is more like hanging a coat rack. You will need to take the weight into consideration more then with a picture.

Installing the TV Wall Mount

Once you have your mount selected you will then need to determine where you would like to place the television. If you have the convince of a second pair of hands you should have one person hold the TV up and the other person can mark the four corners for the television for a general location. Once you have the location in mind you will want to measure approximately where the mount is on the back of the TV. This will give you a good idea of where to place your bracket in the area you have designated on the wall. Keep in mind you will need a stud finder to find exactly where the best wall location will be. Once you have located a stud you can then start to screw the bracket into the wall. Make sure you are consistently checking your bracket with a level.

Once you have the bracket on the wall you can then screw the other bracket side into your TV. Make sure you have the bracket tight but not so tight that you are cracking the plastic. You can then test the TV up on the wall. Place the TV into the other end of your brackets. If the TV location looks good and you have checked it with a level you can then detach the TV and place your cords into the back of the TV.

Get It Done Professionally?

Professional installation of your LCD wall mount can also provide a more finished look. Professional installers can rewire your cable and electricity so that there is no cords showing. If you still prefer to do it yourself, there is an easy solution to this. You can purchase a cable cover and paint it to match your walls. While this is not as professional looking as a rewired job, it is much less expensive and still looks decent.

This article has covered a lot of what to know about LCD wall mounts. For even more information you will need to read through your LCD wall mount installation guide. As each LCD wall mount differs so does exact installation.

When choosing an LCD TV wall mount, just don't buy the one that the sales guy suggests. Do your research. An expensive TV laying on the floor in a mess is not a good thing.

LCD TV wall mounts come in all shapes and varieties but all that this really means is that you are going to have a harder time trying to choose which one is right for your TV… or maybe not.

To begin with, I would start by recommending you look to see if your manufacturer of the TV also has a wall mount kit that was made for it. Be careful though. Some of the companies that produce these kits really don’t put the time in to ensure that they fit with most models of televisions, and this often leads to disasters. You can do yourself a favor and spend the few extra bucks on a quality wall mount TV kit, or you can come home to find your expensive plasma or LCD sitting on the floor, usually with a cracked screen. Not cool.

The way that these manufacturers produce these wall mount kits is often in such a way that they are trying to save money by using low quality materials, or by not performing the research required to ensure they fit the TVs that they are advertised for. Because of the often heavy weights involved in supporting these TVs, it is just not possible to get away using these types of materials for something that you have invested so much money in.

Just because the price may be lower on one of the kits that you have found elsewhere doesn’t mean that you are really getting your money’s worth. Having one of these kits installed into your house will lead to a disaster someday. Because of the often improper fitting of these cheap kits, you can rest assured that you will come home from work or school one day only to find your precious television sitting busted up on the floor. Like I said before, once this happens you are quickly going to realize that saving a few bucks on the initial investment didn’t really save you any money at all. Most of the times, the manufacturer of your television isn’t going to warranty these types of mistakes for the simple fact that they probably have already released a quality wall mount kit and don’t support the fact that you tried to be cheap.

The moral of the story is that you get what you pay for. When choosing an LCD TV wall mount, just don’t buy the one that the sales guy suggests. Do your research and find one that definitely supports the weight of your TV (plus the mount itself – dont’ forget to add that into the total weight), is made of quality materials, is easy to mount and one you’re comfortable with – your gut will often tell you what to do. Mine does!

Simply use your Samsung TV remote to control the arm to any position you want. A provided cable connects your TV to the Samsung wall mount bracket and relays commands from the remote. You can program up to three different positions and then just reorient the TV to one of your favorite spots with just the push of a button.
Wall mounting LCD TVs is a great idea where more floor area is required, which can not only be in homes but also restaurants, night clubs, sports bars, airports and bus terminals.

The new, large LCD TVs you see provide great, high resolution images that can be seen from almost any angle. Because of this.you can mount LCD TVs on walls or even ceilings. Wall mounting LCD TVs is a great idea where more floor area is required, which can not only be in homes but also restaurants, night clubs, sports bars, airports and bus terminals.

LCD TV wall mounts are special kinds of brackets which are made of metal. The first thing to think about when buying TV wall mounts should be the sturdiness. LCD TVs, being flat and compact are usually not too heavy but they’re, of course, pretty fragile. So you need to make sure the bracket and your wall or ceiling can handle the weight of the mount and LCD TV. You can find the weight limits of wall mounts on the packaging or specificaions that you find online. Many times, the manufcturer of your LCD TV will recommend manufactures of wall mounts that are suitable for their TVs.

The area where the TV will be mounted should be thoroughly inspected. A loose clamp would become looser with time and may cause an accident. Make sure the wall studs can handle the weight of the wall mount and TV.

If you are looking for a good LCD TV wall mount, choose one that’s not too big and low profile. It’s also a good idea to choose a wall mount that’s the same color as the wall in order to help hide it.

You will also want to plan on how your TV will be connected to the rest of your home theater components. Some people will simply install molding on the wall to help hide the wires, while most people will install a wall plate near the mounting point of the LCD TV that will allow the connectors to be run through the wal. This ensures a clean, clutter free look. Make sure this wiring is done to the proper electrical code in your area and consult an electrician if necessary. Power cords should not be run through the walls and most times a electrical outlet will be installed behind the TV in order to provide power to the TV. Using HDMI cables simplifies things by allowing both audio and HD video signals to be contained in just one cable.

Installing a LCD wall mount is not a small task but is definitely a task most home owners can tackle. Others may choose to have this work professionally done. Eiher way, mounting your LCD TV on the wall gives your room a nice, clean look while saving floor space and improving the viewing angle.
